"Penny" 20-ish bay stationbred mare, 154 cm.
Barefoot, easy-doer, tends to be cranky, snarls at other horses but hardly ever bites. Fantastic all rounder, has competed in Preliminary (Level 1) dressage, Pre-training eventing, show jumped to 1 m. Two years running was Games Day Champion and obstacle course winner. Participated in NZ Riding Clubs NITE 2009, team placed 4th overall, 1st in cross country, 2nd in quadrille, 4th show jumping. Now starting to stiffen up, requires expensive HA joint supplement, massage, frequent chiropractic adjustments. No longer happy jumping and seems to be going through menopause - wildly fluctuating heats, mysterious swelling and personality changes.
(Half share) "Max" 7 year old smoky dun stationbred approx. 156 cm
Barefoot, easy-doer, sweet tempered if a bit dim. Started but very green, not in work due to stifle injury.
Plus Astil double horsefloat, covers, halters, bridles, other gear etc. Wintec saddles - 17 inch/43cm Pro Dressage saddle, 17.5 inch/44 cm 500 dressage saddle and 2000 GP saddle.
Rider giving up with a broken heart and smashed dreams.

ReplyDeleteOh No!! What happened? Have been following you and Possum for a few months. Can relate - did a few years (American) eventing with a (essentially) homebred gelding that eventually was retired due to aging/freak pasture accident. Always hoping for the best for you and Possum. Please don't "give up". You are an inspiration to those of us who must "ride the horse we're on" and still do the best by that horse and his/her abilities.
I will blog about it soon. Just as soon as I have processed it all. Not a disaster of a day but I was depressed by the end of it.
